Established in 1948 to preserve scientific instruments for teaching and research in the history of science and technology, this collection, one of the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture, now contains some 20,000 objects from a broad range of scientific disciplines including astronomy, navigation, horology, surveying, geology, calculating, physics, biology, medicine, psychology, electricity, and communication. Visitors may tour the Putnam Gallery’s Time, Life, Matter exhibition and see changing exhibitions in the 2nd floor gallery.
